President Obama "Humbled"
What woke you up this morning? Was it the dog, the telephone or your alarm clock? Well, President Obama's press secretary woke him with the news that he was the latest winner of the Nobel Peace prize. A senior administrator said the president felt "humbled" by the award.
As we all know, everybody has an opinion and a lot of people thought that it is too soon for a president that has only been in office for nine months to be given such a prestigious award. The president did a press conference later that day to say that he was shocked as well. Let's give him some time, he may surprise you and actually live up to it (if he hasn't already).
Fourth U.S. President to be Awarded Nobel Peace Prize
On Friday, October 9th, 2009, President Barack Obama won the Nobel Peace Prize for "his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between people," the Norwegian Nobel Committee said. "Only very rarely has a person to the same extent as Obama captured the world's attention and given its people hope for a better future," the committee said. "His diplomacy is founded in the concept that those who are to lead the world must do so on the basis of values and attitudes that are shared by the majority of the world's population."
President Obama is the fourth U.S. president to be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. Jimmy Carter won in 2002, Woodrow Wilson won in1919 and Theodore Roosevelt won in1906.

I believe that Pres.Obama was embrassed when he received this award. There was so much going on after Obama was elected. People claiming that Pres. Obama should not speak to children. The Acorn controversy. Was Obama a legal president? etc. The award seemed stupid. I understand the reasoning behind it..others might disagree. Obama got the award because his election seemed to be changing how America viewed racial relations. A change in our thought processes. It showed that maybe..just maybe by electing a black man, he could bring nations together...It was to commemorate this historic event. I felt sorry for Pres. Obama. He was so embrassed, that he anounced, he would give the million dollars to charity..tsk tsk
